Our Mission

Since December 2016, The Crimson Wave have proudly provided free period products to menstruators across Greater Manchester - no questions asked!

We deliver essential, inclusive and challenging education & training programmes that disrupt the systems and tackle the stigma that surrounds menstrual and sexual health.

  • Systems that still make us believe that periods are dirty.

  • Systems that charge for products that are essential to our lives.

  • Systems that make profit from menstruators pain.

  • Systems that have been proven to repeatedly neglect menstruating people.

  • Systems that are riddled with misogyny, racism and inequality.

It’s a BIG FAT NAH from us. We’re not havin’ it.

Like we’ve done since day 1, we continue to provide FREE period products -

  • No questions.

  • No criteria.

  • No ticking boxes.

We are 2 working class women from Manchester who are passionate about our communities. Our combined experience of over 15 years in the youth sector, it’s highlighted that the stigma around menstrual and sexual health is still very much there.

All our educational sessions and training services provide an opportunity to ask questions,  access relevant resources and have open and honest conversations with our team

I started The Crimson Wave back in 2016. After reading an article on period inequality we dashed to our local pound shop and grabbed as many tampons a tenner could buy us!

We soon realised that the problem was much bigger than just access to the products and that when we spoke about what we were up to, there were conversations around pains, shame and tampons taking your ‘virginity’.

We weren't happy about this, and so overnight we got to work on developing sessions and training that supported EVERYONE to chat about periods in a way that worked for them!
